Regulatory Compliance

Certifying Cyber Essentials and IASME Cyber Assurance as one assessment shows existing and prospective customers that their company is certified and is aligned to the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

Cyber Essentials

Cyber Essentials is a Cyber Security certification scheme run by the UK Government’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). It provides the ‘minimum’ standard, that UK Government suppliers are required to achieve in order to secure contracts that entail the sharing of information. It demonstrates to your business partners that you take information protection seriously. Some Local Authorities already require this level of certification; this is the direction of travel.

Gaining Cyber Essentials certification proves that you have achieved the NCSC standard for Cyber Security. Guardian Saints and their partners have the knowledge and experience to support you through the process step by step. We will provide ongoing guidance to help you understand the level of detail required in response to the assessment process. We will also provide guidance to help with policy templates and the implementation of technical changes in order to gain compliance. In short, with our support you will gain a deeper understanding of the process, set you on the right path and provide you with information, tools and professional guidance to achieve certification.

Cyber Essentials Plus

This still has the Cyber Essentials trademark simplicity of approach, and the protections you need to put in place are the same, but for Cyber Essentials Plus a hands-on technical verification is carried out.  This gives you and your clients the peace of mind that your application of the NCSC Cyber Security Standards are effective.

CE+ is appropriate for all small to medium sized enterprises (SME) that process customer, employee, supplier information and/or have an online service or presence. In short, Cyber Essentials Plus is ideally suited to all SME’s and, where correctly implemented, will prevent most common cyber-attacks against these organisations.

  • Up to 20 hours of professional services with qualified consultants whose expertise you can draw on, as required.
  • This is available for a period of up to 12 months from project initiation, meaning that you can improve your security posture at your own pace; we will be available to guide you through the certification process.
  • Once you are ready to apply and meet the criteria, you will gain certification and be allowed to display the CE+ ‘badge’, which will let your customers and suppliers know that you have achieved the Cyber Essentials Plus certification standard.

The Process

IASME Cyber Assurance

Refreshed and rebranded, the IASME Cyber Assurance scheme finally has its time in the spotlight with a new name, a revised logo and a refreshed focus.

The IASME Cyber Assurance Standard is particularly suitable for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs)

The Governance assessment includes the Cyber Essentials and UK GDPR requirements. This standard is recognised as an affordable and achievable alternative to the International Standard, ISO27001

Frequently Asked Questions

  • 1. How long does certification take?

This depends on the complexity of your organisation’s technical landscape and the allocation of time that you can put into the process. A typical consultant assisted assessment can take 3-6 months for CE and IASME. Complex organisations may need more time to ensure the accuracy and availability of information.

  • 2. Do I have to use a consultancy?

No you can apply direct to IASME to undergo the process, where you will be assessed by a Certification Body based on the information you provide.

  • 3. Why should I use Guardian Saints?

We have many years of experience working in the Foster Care sector and understand the typical information and cyber implementations. This enables us to assist with sector specific guidance through the certification process.

  • 4. How much does it cost?

Your customers, suppliers and business partners will have the confidence that you have attained the NCSC’s standard of cyber security resilience. In addition, with IASME, you can also demonstrate that personal information is appropriately protected – aligned with GDPR compliance. More and more Government and Local Authority departments look for Cyber Essentials certification from their suppliers, so it represents a real competitive advantage.

The insurance is inclusive for successful applicants who are UK based with a turnover of under £20M. No further charges are incurred.

  • 7. Why is cyber insurance useful?
